God’s Wrath…Are You Aware of It?

We start off today in Romans 1:18-20 we read 18 “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

You see there are no excuses because God’s truth is manifest in everyone, instinctively, without conscious thought, by natural instinct.  Manifest: clear or obvious to the eye or mind.

Let’s think about what this scripture is saying that the God who created everything is watching His creation and mind you, they were created for Him.  I mean He does call them His children.  He does want you to have a relationship with Him.  He is watching them chose Satan and a worldly, lustful life over Him and we can even go as far to say that the majority have Him on ignore.

How do you think you would feel if your children chose others over you?  How would you feel if your children were just continually disobeying you and acted like you didn’t even exist?  I know it would hurt my feelings.

But we are talking about a Heavenly Father that loves us so much that He wants to spend eternity with us in heaven and what He is offering; there is no comparison.  His offer is eternity.  His offer is Agape love forever.  He pleads with us daily and yet He is ignored.  He watches on as the world runs to sin.  They run to the lusts the world has.  God tells us in Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

He also tells us to in 1 John 2:15-17 15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life— is not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God remains forever”

Our Heavenly Father couldn’t be clearer, that we should not and I repeat we should not be conformed to the patterns of this world.  Now, why do you think He keeps telling us this?  The reason is that the world is under the control of Satan.  We see right here in the Bible in Ephesians 2:2 it reads “You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.”

It also says in 2 Corinthians 4:4 “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

God has given us sufficient scripture to warn us about the devil, about his foolery, about his snare that he sets for us.  It is our job to tread lightly through this valley of darkness we travel through.  The problem we have on this planet is the devil is a beautiful glorious being and he uses all the tools given to him by this world.  He has access to all the money, all the luxury, and all the riches.  He makes a worldly life look so enticing that the vast majority of the world is following him and his lusts blindly and one day it will come to an end.  It is here at that moment, if you are not walking in Christ’s righteousness, if you are not a devoted child of God, then the wrath of God you will see.

But there is hope, there is good news, for God sent His Son that whoever believes in Him shall be saved.  Read here in John 3:16-21:

16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”

He goes on to say in verse 31-36:

“He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. 32 He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! 33 Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true. 34 For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. 36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

I want you to understand this, that in vs. 16 God says that anyone who believes in His Son will have everlasting life in heaven, but if we keep reading what does it say in vs. 36?  “And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life.  Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

“Anyone who doesn’t obey”, you see that’s the actual key to our salvation.  It’s not so much the belief, but the obedience that God is wanting.  So the good news is that if we believe in His Son Jesus, that He came to save us, and obey, let me say that again, and obey we will be saved.  But if we don’t obey what will we see?  Yes, that is correct, “God’s Angry Judgement.”
