Peace

peace

Do you have it?  Do you want it?  Have you heard of inner peace?  So how does one attain peace, or is it even attainable?  Well, let me take you on a journey, a journey that will take you to a place where peace will become the very fiber of your being.

Let’s look at little children, they have no worries, no cares, they don’t need to stress over life’s decisions or choices, they don’t have to worry about work, bills, insurance or providing for a family, they just do what comes naturally.  This is the way God expects us to be, He expects us to have child-like faith.  The word of God says in Matthew 18:3:

“I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

What God is saying is this, in the same way a child has faith and has complete trust that their parents will lead them, provide for them, protect them, steer them in the right direction, we too must do the same in order to enter the kingdom of heaven.  We must trust that God has a better plan than us, that God will provide, protect, and steer us in the right direction.  We must be reborn and turn from our sins and walk as little children allowing God to guide us and allow our faith to take root into the path that God has for us.

Let’s take a look at the opposite of what peace is: it is unrest, to be stressed, to worry, and to be anxious.  It is a feeling that comes only from the evil spirits that are constantly chasing us down.  The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:24:

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”

Let’s break that down, so who do you serve?  Well in the Word of God it says in Ephesians 6:12:

“For we struggle against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

So we can’t serve two masters, we wrestle against spiritual forces.  So what are we fighting against?  Right!  Evil spirits.  So in order to have peace, what is the first thing we need to do to start the war against such forces?  Right!  Accept Jesus as our Savior, so once we accept that Jesus is our Savior, we must, according to His Word, yes, serve Him and Him only, because we can’t serve 2 masters.

One way to serve Him is to read His Word and fill your mind and heart with His loving promises.  Next would be to put on the full armor of God.  This will help you fight against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:14-17 “Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

The peace you look for is in the word of God, it is the word of God and we are to walk in it daily.  If the spirit of God rests in you, you will gain inner peace it will be activated by your faith, by trusting in God and in Christ, by letting the Holy Spirit fill you and guide you and by meditating in His Word.  You must choose to believe in what you have read and that it is true.  You need to live it and not just talk it, you must let the Word of God change and mold you into a warrior for Christ.  Wake up and pray then dive into your Word.  The Bible says in Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness FIRST, and all things shall be added to you.”

Make that a habit, an addiction to seek God First.

Jump into your days all geared up with your Armor of God fastened tightly, and believe in the power that God has given us.  The power and authority to defeat the devil, his lies, his schemes, his deceit and after doing this, you will gain that inner peace.  The peace that surpasses all understanding, the peace that lets you know your children will grow up and follow after the Lord.  The kind of peace that will let you know that all things work for good, even if it doesn’t seem it.  When you can go through life with that peace you will defeat the devil and do great things for the Lord.  Remember peace comes through faith, trust, and hope through servantship to one master, that is our Lord Jesus Christ.
