Fear, He is a Liar

Imagine, if you will, that your time has come and your life is required of you.  You are now faced with your maker.  As you walk towards that bright light and get to the end, there stands Jesus.  The light is so bright, so brilliant, so magnificent, and you are in such awe that you can’t even look at Him.  You just naturally fall to your knees.   Now you’re thinking I made it, I am here.  You lift your hands to give praises to your King, only to hear, “Depart from me, for I never knew you.”

Now that is a justifiable time to have fear because that’s when it becomes real.  You are going to spend eternity in Hell, so yeah that’s when you can say fear is real.

But while we are here on this earth we are taught by God not to fear, let’s look at the worldly definition of fear.

Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat.

I know firsthand there are many instances that happen in our life that causes fear.  What we have to remember is that we are Christians.  We are children of the most, High God.  We live in this world where we fight invisible forces, demons.  These demons will attach to us if we allow them to.  If we are not equipped to go into this spiritual battle than we will be succumbed by fear and this is when the devil has an opportunity to sneak in.  He will feed those fears.  His job is to keep you from God and if we fall into the sin of Fear, then we, in turn, are saying to God that we do not trust Him.

Lets dive into our scriptures and see what the Lord has to say about fear. We see in Exodus 14:14:

“The Lord will fight your battles, for you need only to be still.”

Are you going through any battles right now?  Do you feel trapped?  Do you feel like there is nowhere to go?  Welcome to the club, the “I am under attack by the devil” club.  Believe it or not, every single person experiences this, from the rich, wealthy, billionaires down to the homeless on the street, from Pastors to the middle school children.  Satan is real and the Bible says in Ephesians 6:12:

“For we struggle not against flesh and blood but against authorities power of the dark world against spiritual forces of evil.”

Does anyone remember the story of Jesus coming on shore, only to find a crazy guy?  Well if you don’t you can read about it in Matthew 8:28-34:

28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[a]two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”

30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”

32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.

So looking at these two scriptures Ephesians 6:12 and Matthew 8:28 we learn we fight against invisible powerful evil spirits and in the next scripture we learn through the power given to us through Jesus Christ, that we, like Him, can cast the demons away.  The demons fear the name of Jesus.  They tremble at the very thought of Him, so now let’s look back at Exodus 14:14.  “The Lord will fight our battles and all we need to do is be silent”  What???!!!  You mean I don’t need to worry, stress, or live in fear?  You’re absolutely, 100% correct.  You can cast out all fear.

We see in 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.  The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

If we have a relationship with Jesus and we are diving into His Living Word, trusting in His promises and His unconditional love, then we have that love in us.  In other words, Jesus is that love.  He is that perfect love this scripture is talking about.  So the next time fear shows its ugly face, you remind it that you have the perfect love of Jesus living in you and that he needs to go.  You’re not welcome here and I cast you out in the name of Jesus.  Proclaim that name because that’s the name above all names.  Jesus, the great I am that I am, Lord of all Lords, and King of all Kings.

The phrase “Fear Not” is written in the Bible 365 times.  That’s one scripture a day that we can recite as a reminder that we, as Christians, have no need to fear.  That our God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die on a cross so our sins could be cleansed and we could be made as white as the whitest snow without blemish.  We are not supposed to walk around defeated listening to the lies of the evil one.  We won the battle when Jesus went up on that cross.  It was finished then and it still is.  So cast fear to the side and tell the devil he is a liar.  I have a suggestion for all who read this: if and when those dark forces we fight against are lying to you and if you feel trapped than you reach out to me and I will gladly speak words of encouragement to you because the Bible says we are to sharpen one another.

We read this in Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

And in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Jesus has many true ambassadors walking this planet, so reach out and let them be your sanding stone.  So go today and recognize the power that you have in the name of Jesus and tell fear he is a liar.  Here is a song about fear and how it is a liar.  Keep it on your tongue when he shows up.

Fear Is a Liar by Zach Williams

When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough

Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar

When he told you were troubled
You’ll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You’ll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Oh, let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Oh, fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar

‘Cause fear he is a liar
