Recognizing God’s Voice

Supernatural subliminal, what a topic!  Yeah, ever since I met Jesus, supernatural subliminales have surrounded me and given me answers.  For 27 years they have been answers, direction, road blocks, and disciplines.  Supernatural subliminales come in many forms, but before we get into that let’s talk about what state of mind we must be in in order to receive such messages.

Christians for the most part, and let’s be honest, are very busy and so busy with all the world’s I have too’s, go here’s and do this or that, that they don’t have time for God.  His mission is always last on the list.  I mean we all want God’s blessing that’s for sure, even if we don’t seek Him the way we should, we just want good health, prosperity, and happiness.

We travel this road seeking our own thoughts, directions and desires, and why do we do that?  Because that’s what the world does, the world tells us to prosper.  The world is filled with lusts, the world is big on idols, and idolizing the wealthy and powerful so of course our direction growing up would be how can I get wealth, status, fame, or recognition.  I want to get as high as I can with all the security I can before my time is up.  But here is the kicker, God has a plan for us, He has a direction and a will for our lives.  You know where we find out this information?  Yeah that’s right, in His Word.

You see we are not to be conformed to this world and its patterns as it says in 1 John 2:15-17:

¹⁵ Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. ¹⁶ For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. ¹⁷ And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds as it says in Romans 12:2:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

If we are so busy following after the world which translates into following after Satan than how could we ever be directed by supernatural subliminales, we can’t because we can’t serve both God and Money for the Bible says in Luke  16:13:

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

You must live in the Word and be rooted in Him.  You must make life all about His mission and graft it into your life, so that the mission is always first.  When we live like this always in prayer, always asking His direction, always seeking Him in all decision processes that’s when the supernatural subliminales come to you.

What do I mean by supernatural subliminales?  Supernatural simply means beyond the natural, this is where God operates.  It is where God and man interact and where He wants His children connected to Him.  Subliminales are below the threshold of consciousness, or things you may not be aware of, but are happening.  Our hope in our walk is to move from being unaware, to aware and responsive to the things the Lord is trying to show us.

I’ll give you a few examples from my own experience.  So, I have a hawk that has been in our lives for 5 or 6 years.  In the Bible a red tailed hawk pointed its wings south as a guide. It says in Job 39:26:

“Is it your wisdom that makes the hawk soar
    and spread its wings toward the south?”

We were contemplating where God wanted us to go one year, we see the hawk in a unique manor on several occasions and when we read that scripture we took it literally and went south and come to find that’s where He wanted us.  Over the years, when we had decisions in front of us, we would ask the Lord to send the hawk as confirmation and sometimes he comes and sometimes he doesn’t, but every time whether he came or not the decision was based on the answer which was always aligned with His will, you see supernatural subliminal.  God spoke to me through an action, through a circumstance, through a series of events and we listened.  Another example would be number patterns, like I would be feeling God’s spirit tugging on my heart regarding a decision we were about to make and I would listen.  So when I finally made the decision, the number sequence was in such a manner that it was undeniably the Lord’s will.  I felt the Lord wanted me to wait to book this Airbnb, low and behold the Airbnb stayed available for 3 weeks while I was told to wait and when I finally booked it, the cost was $4,444 with a discount of $444.40 and believe it or not it was at 4:44 pm, so I look up what 444 means on the net and it says that these numbers signify that everything is going according to the divine plan.  Now, I’m not into believing what the world says or any numerology by any means, but the likelihood of all those 4’s happening and then looking it up to see the words “everything is going according to the divine plan”, that to me is a supernatural subliminal sent to me at that time.  Then further confirmation that we are on the path we are supposed to be on, the code to get into the Airbnb is 3333, I couldn’t make this stuff up.  It’s divine appointments, it’s God speaking through events, situations, circumstances, and His creation and these are the supernatural subliminales sent to us so we see and recognize them as Him.

Another super natural subliminal would be the Lord specifically telling me to go to this local church, so we go and the guy behind me is singing like an angel.  So after service I introduce my family, come to find his name is Marc with a c and he was sitting right behind us.  Well when we first went to this church where we used to live, when we sat in the pews, we also met a gentleman name Marc with a c.  It gets even better, so the Lord pressed in on my heart to keep sitting in front of this guy.  Over the next few weeks we did and on the 4^th  visit, we got into a more depth of a conversation and come to find that Marc’s wife worked with a good friend of 18 yrs, who is also a pastor at the church we used to go to.  That pastor officiated my daughter’s wedding.  Come to find that Marc and his wife Vicky both know Paul – Supernatural subliminal, divine appointment, letting God direct your steps. That’s what the Christian life is, being obedient to the Word of God, living in the Bible, building your intimate relationship with the Lord, and doing His will.  So listening to God is most important, as you get closer to Him, the supernatural subliminales will become so much clearer.  Live for Him and He will live in you.

Let us talk now about the biblical supernatural subliminal, we have Moses and the burning bush, we have Daniel in the lion’s den, we have Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the furnace, we have the lady who touched the hem of his garment, we have Simon and the fish, and we have Jonah and the whale.  There are so many examples of supernatural subliminales in the Word of God and they all came to His followers either when they were seeking Him or when they were running from Him, either way it’s the signs and wonders that will bring us to Him, bring us closer to Him, answer our questions, be an anchor to steer us, but know this, it is a way the Lord speaks to us.

One last example I can give to you is in 2 Kings 6:14-16:

14 So one night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city.

15 When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha.

16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Elisha could see the unseen because God revealed it and when He asked God to show his servant, he was also able to see the supernatural around him.

I will close with this, if you are a Christian truly seeking the Lord with all your heart, then I would say keep a look out or be listening, for the Lord will bring signs and wonders through supernatural subliminales, for God works in mysterious ways.  So don’t be surprised if the donkey speaks to you.
